What is the Value of Art?

The following is our unit outline. Please refer to this weekly and review it so that we may stay focused. 

Central Idea

Creating and responding to art develops an understanding of ourselves and the world around us.

Lines of Inquiry

• How arts can be a reflection of societal values and issues (Form: What does it look like?)

• The contexts in which artworks were created (Perspective: What are the points of view?)

• How learning about arts develops our appreciation (Reflection: How do we know?)

Skills

We will specifically develop our self-management and research approaches to learning. This means that we will work on creating art in a safe environment and also that we will research well-known artists in order to apply our knowledge to our own artistic experiences and reflect what we know.

Mindset

Students will need to be open-minded and be principled in their study and display an attitude of curiosity and creativity.
